In 1985 Rick Dodd, owner of Majestic Trees LLC, began planting Grand Fir, Scotch Pine, Balsam Fir Frasier Fir and Blue Spruce on his acreage north of Bonners Ferry. He traveled from his full-time job in Wyoming on weekends and vacation days to plant tree by hand.
In 2001, after retiring, he purchased a 65-inch spade and truck to begin transplanting small to 35-foot trees for residential and commercial properties throughout three states. This 65-inch spade digs a 5-foot, 5-inch deep and 65-inch-wide cone shaped root ball which helps ensure a good root structure to support the viability of the transplanted trees. Wide, bushy trees are tied for transplanting to ensure the branches are not damaged in transporting.
